Stuff I {heart}: Jeff Bridges edition

I admit it- I am somewhat obsessive in my personality.  When I like something, I can turn from a somewhat normal gal into a complete fan-girl nerd in approximately 2.5 seconds.  And I will most likely love the object of that fan-girl nerdness forever.

so without further adeiu- I bring you my love of Jeff Bridges.  

He is often referred to as the most under-appreciated actor out there, but all that changed for him this last Sunday night when he won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his role of Bad Blake in Crazy Heart.  

 

As Bad Blake, he sang in the movie and on the soundtrack, brilliantly.  What many people don't know is that he also released an album called "Be Here Soon" in 2000 which is available on Itunes.  I highly recommend this album- it's beautifully written and sang, with almost a Clapton-esque feel but with his wonderful voice and heart (and his photography on the cover).

I think I first fell in love with Jeff Bridges when I watched The Big Lebowski- something about the Dude was inpsiring and endearing all at the same time and Jeff just embodied that role entirely.  I find I love actors who when you watch them you don't think "Oh that is *insert actors name*" but you think that that is the character.  Not the actor, the character just feels real.  Jeff does that.  Every time.

And as if acting and music weren't already enough, he is also a photographer and an artist.  He took the black and white photo above.  He has released a book of his photography and designs the art for his website www.jeffbridges.com (which is just a fun site to poke around!)

 

So if you're looking for a movie to watch or something to do this week, check out Crazy Heart if it is still in a theater by you.  Or go rent or fill up your netflix queue with some of his movies.  I recommend:

Stuff I {heart}- Spring Edition

With the crazy bout of Prescott Arizona weather we've been having the last 2 months, I am ready and itching for Spring to be here and to stay.  For this spring I am loving and dreaming of...

Lush bright green leaves and grass and beautiful flowers starting to bloom.

Chasing butterflies with Roslyn and using up all the lovely spring inspired scrapbooking goodies from companies like Maya Road, and Dear Lizzy for American Crafts.

Pure Ice nail polish in all my favorite spring colors... at only $2 a bottle you can't go wrong in having a large collection of colors to choose from!  I am currently loving Free Spirit, New Lilac, Heart Breaker and Love.

Concerts- some of my favorite concerts of my life have been in the spring... so far we have Frightened Rabbit lined up and some others for consideration.

Having fresh tulips in every room in my house- so beautiful

Angels spring training games... a great way to spend an afternoon!

And like everyone else I am sure... all things Alice in Wonderland.  We are very excited for Tim Burton's take on this wonderful classic and love Walt Disney's version as well.

Stuff I Heart- Inspiration Boards

 

When I got married and we moved into our house, one of the very first things that I got for the house was a bulletin board.  Drew and I covered it in torn out pages from Guitar Player, etc.  We used it to collect our concert ticket stubs, photobooth pics and more.  I wish that I had a picture of it, but sadly, I do not.

I don't think that there has ever been a period of time where I have lived in this house and not had at least one bulletin board.  Right now I have three.  I love how its a contained space to add those little bits of life that seem to collect, that you don't want to get rid of, memories you don't want to forget and the inspiration that you have found.

Of my three boards, two are for momentos and inspiration and various found odds n' ends and one is for my ever growing button/flair collection. 

This one is the one that you see when you walk into my room, it's on the door.  It is also a project that I made for the A Million Memories Birthday crop.  You can find the instructions at the A Million Memories forum in the birthday crop section.

And these two are right by my desk when I am scrapping and on the computer.  

I asked my dear friend Kristin to share her Inspiration Board and luckily she said yes!  Be sure to check out Kristins blog Reclaiming the Home to see more of her crafts (she spins her own yarns and way more!), recipes and all about her wonderful little family. 

What Kristin had to say about her board : "The first one is the whole board.  One shows a closeup of a painting I did (Embrace the Everyday).  The hearts I sewed myself.  The picture with the 3 hearts at the bottom is one Abbi and I did together doing potato stamping.  The last one shows a card with a tree, a heart on a chain, a piece of cute horse fabric, part of my hanging...thingy (sortof a chime, but no sound?), with some of my handspun camel on it.  I tried to just put things on there that remind me of the things I love.  There's still a lot to add, and some space to add it, but as you know- these things are a constant work in progress. :)"

Along with these, I've also realized that sites like tumblr and weheartit.com are basically online inspiration boards.  I use my tumblr account (link on the left side bar if you're interested) to save pictures, quotes and thoughts that I find inspiring and may want to use in my scrapping, decor, etc.
